Living Rooms
|
Our Nursing Center offers many areas where residents, families, and friends may spend time together privately and comfortably. Each residential pavilion offers a large living room complete with a cozy fireplace and TV for residents’ enjoyment. In the living rooms, residents visit with each other, playing cards or other games, and recreation staff lead therapeutically stimulating activities.

Near the living rooms and the nursing station in each pavilion, an activity room is available for small family parties and staff-led activities such Jewish history and other discussions, aroma therapy sessions, and other quiet activities.

Outside Gardens
During warm weather months, our several subtly walled “wandering gardens,” courtyards and well landscaped grounds provide many beautiful areas for residents, families, and friends to gather. Many times through the spring and summer season, the courtyards are used for group cookouts headed by our wonderful dining and recreation staff.
In-House Synagogue
The Nursing Center is, after all, a home, and our synagogue, familiarly called “the shul,” is the hearth of our home. It is designed to serve as an intimate chapel or open for a larger gathering. Every Friday afternoon, residents gather there for erev Shabbat led by our coordinator of religious services; Torah services are held every Saturday, thanks to the generosity of community volunteers who lead the prayers.
Our synagogue allows our Jewish residents to attend services during their senior years without being dependent on others to bring them to another shul in the Capital District. Occasionally, a funeral for a resident sees overflow crowds.
The synagogue is fully operational, with a ner tamid, prayer books, and books on Jewish learning; yizkor plaques indicate the names of people for whom we say prayers each week.
