Admission Criteria to the Golub Family Memory Enhancement Center (MEC):
In order to participate in and benefit from a therapeutic program, a person must have a primary diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder and exhibit cognitive defects requiring 24-hour direction and/or supervision. They must be able to:
• perform tasks by following simple instructions

• walk or wheel themselves independently or with minimal assistance of one helper
• transfer independently or with minimal assistance of one helper to wheelchair or toilet
• eat independently, perhaps with directions, cueing, supervision or cutting of food
• bathe and dress with cueing/supervision or direct assistance of one helper
• use the toilet, even with some urine incontinence, with cue or assistance of one helper
|
Additionally, residents must:
• rarely exhibit disruptive and aggressive behaviors, and if so, be able to respond to staff redirection and supervision to manage their behavior
• not be dependent on drugs or alcohol ( this may not necessarily apply to pain medication)
Residents may exhibit challenging behaviors related to dementia, as long as these behaviors do not indicate inappropriateness for effective management through Memory Enhancement Center treatment.
